Moon Festival

Romy trying to enjoy the moon festival festivities.....didn't really have any festivities, other than trying to keep your hair on your head when you went outside. We have the hurricane winds come through on Sunday.......so too many clouds to see the moon!
Keegan doing a little "moon festival" school work!

Such a pretty little girl!

Ro is such a ham for the camera! She starts "cheese-ing" before the camera is even turned on!

A dad and his two chinese dumplings!

Happy Moon Festival from our house to yours!!

Ponytails

I decided to let the girls hair grow out some so we could attempt ponytails and such. The girls got so excited when they realized that it worked! We have been trying this for some time and we finally have success!!
The girls are growing up so fast. Honestly, where does the time go? Is there some type of black hole? Is there a time warp? A large vacuum in space that sucks out all the days of the month?
Keegan is doing fabulously. She does so well with learning. She can do some first grade curriculum. Just boggles the mind. She is growing like a weed - she is a solid 4T and shoe size of a 10.....oh my!!!
Romy is doing quite well herself! Still unwilling to learn. We are hoping to have her tested in the next week or so to see if she might qualify for assistance. She is a smart girl.....she just doesn't want to show it! I know she catches on more than she let's on. But I just don't want her to be too far behind when it comes time for school!
The girls are true sisters. They play, fight, play, fight. You get the picture! It's fun to watch them together. Which brings me to one of my ALL TIME favorite "stories":
For some reason (it's a personal thing) I don't like the girls to pretend they are dogs. All other animals are ok. I just don't like the "dog" idea. My girls aren't dogs. They know this. Have know this for quite some time. But every once in a while, I will catch one of them crawling around on all fours barking. Which was the case a few days ago. I saw Romy being "the dog" so I told her to stop and explained, once again, that Keegan and Romy aren't dogs, but they can pretend that they have dogs.....imaginary dogs. Oh my, the girls were so excited about the idea of their very own pretend dogs! So off they went. Now keep in mind, I am right there in the room with them. Well, Adam walks into the room and we get into a totally different discussion. We are all involved in our moment of discussion that I missed something.
Romy walks over to me crying. I mean physically trembling from the sobs. I asked why is she crying. I have been right here.......no one hit her, no one mistreated her, no one did anything. So, I ask again, why is she crying? She replies "Keegan took my dog, KiKi has her dog and my dog, too, KiKi has both dogs"! WHAT?? How can Keegan take Romy's imaginary dog? Good Lord! I didn't think I could contain myself. I lost my mind a little while later when the girls weren't looking!

The day my life changed forever

It was Labor Day weekend 3 years ago that I saw my heart on the outside of my body. We received our referral for Keegan on that Saturday afternoon. We got the call from our adoption agency and then they followed it up with an email with this picture. I can't begin to express how this little person has changed, affected and blessed my life.
She is my gift from God.

Simply amazed

My big girl read her first word today. I mean truly read her first word today. We were sounding out "c a t". So I went ahead and wrote down several other "at" words: bat, mat, pat, etc. She was sounding out the sounds the letters make and attempting to put the sounds all together to make a word............AND SHE DID IT!!!!!!!!! She read a few of them all by herself!!!! I could not believe it! This child is amazing! She knows all her alphabet and can write them all: capital and lowercase. She asks continuously how to spell words! I have to make her stop doing "homework" and go play with actual toys! I hope she doesn't lose her enthusiasm for learning as the years progress!

Keegan, mommy is so proud of you!!!

I've been tagged

**Update** I stand or sit corrected. I am suppose to list 7 things.......so Lesley, for you:

#7 - I am a Beverly Hills 90210 junkie. There I said it. I never, ever, watched it when it was on regular prime time tv. But, I discovered it shortly after it went into syndication. Oh, I just love me some 90210. I could sit and watch episode after episode (well, not the early years when they were in high school - but the college years!) all day long. And wouldn't you know it, we don't get the channel it comes on now! AAAHHH!! So now I don't get to watch it. Probably a good thing!

Now normally I don't participate in the "tagging" but I really enjoyed Ms. Lesley's post. So, just for you darlin'! I am suppose to list 6 things that people don't know about me......however, if you know me I am sure you already know these!

Ok, here goes:

1 - My biggest pet peeve is mouth sounds. I mean really. Probably the quickest way to push me over the edge. When people either smack their mouths while talking or eating........Good Lord just kill me now!

2 - I hate, I mean hate, to wear socks on carpet. I suppose you could equate it to nails on a chalkboard. It's a texture thing I am sure. It really disturbs me. If I remove the shoes (cause I am not a fan of shoes in the house either) then the socks gotta come off!!

3 - I have an unhealthy addiction to donuts. I remember back in high school I could eat an entire dozen donuts myself. In one sitting. I was not a "fat" girl back then either! If there are donuts in the house, they won't be here long. I swear I could eat my body weight in donuts. And that's alot of donuts! I prefer donuts to just about any other "sweets"!!

4 - I love to balance checkbooks! I love it! When new bank statements arrive at the house, I must set it aside and get all my "chores" done before I allow myself the pleasure of balancing the checkbook! I also enjoy balancing other people's checkbooks! It's a number thing I suppose!

5 - I have extreme motion sickness. I can't ride any rides at amusement parks, I can't lay on floats in the water, I can't even watch people on floats in the water, I get woozy riding in elevators! Just ask my husband, I am a blast to travel with!!! I can't go to any action movies, I get sick as a dog. I have sat through too many movies with my eyes closed..........I don't do that anymore! No thanks, I'll just wait for the DVD!!

6 - I am a neat freak. To a fault. I can't sit down and relax if certain things are left undone or messy in my house. Everything as a place and it needs to be there. Even the angle of things, the way things sit. I believe I have a touch of OCD.....however, I never make my bed! What's that all about? Maybe it's an underlying desire to lay back down during the day that my body yearns for, therefore why make it? What if that moment actually happens and I am able to lay back down? I would hate to have to turn the bed down again and mess up all that pillow fluffing!

So sorry to go on and on about myself.....but there, it's done! Feel free to ridicule!

It's a friday night slumber party!

What it looked like before we started........

Acrobatic Keegan!

And so the big yellow comforter goes down.........it's so big and fluffy and yet not fluffy enough for mommy's tired old bones........mommy's old.

Daddy and the girls decided to test it out to make sure it would be comfortable enough for sleeping! I think it passed their tests!

The girls had to arrange the pillows just so. As you can see Sam was the first to find his favorite sleeping location! Grand.

The girls were so excited about our slumber party I truly wondered if they would actually sleep. Well, let's just say Daddy was the first to go........snoring, snoring, snoring! Then Keegan dozed and snored.........so Romy and I were left awake trying to watch a movie with lots of snoring going on!

Getting it just right.

Sam is all tucked in and waiting for the movie and snacks!

Yum-o snacks! I even bought "special" snacks just for the party! And I made cake balls!!! Shut up! They are lip smackin' good!

And then it was mommy's turn to get tucked in! I slept between the girls. I really was expecting a few kicks in the stomach or ribs, or both, but the girls really did do quite well.

The friday night slumber party was such a success that we plan to make it a semi-regular thing! My girls are so much fun, I am truly blessed!!

Piggy Tails and Art

Check out those pigtails! They were so cute!! I really felt like I should be able to pick the girls up by the "handlebars" on the sides of their heads.......however, it probably would have been frowned upon.

Varmit!
Just cute!

This weekend was the Woodland Arts Fair. We wandered around for a few hours and drooled over all the really cool and amazing creative things that people can make........and then charge big money for! But let me tell you, if I had big money I would have purchased a few of those goodies for myself!! Just amazing the talent that some people have, makes me jealous!

Keegan and her Sam.
Ok, before you look at the next picture...........read first:
We keep small doodle pads in the girls carseats to help pass the time while in the car. Keegan is always wanting someone to draw specific things for her.........a pencil, a giraffe, a chair, a tree, etc. Yesterday Keegan asked her daddy to draw a pencil for her. It was two seconds later, Keegan says "I drew a skateboard with KiKi on it"...I said "what?????", she said "I drew a skateboard with KiKi on it". So I asked Adam to grab the doodle pad so I could see it.......SIMPLY AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's my girl!
